It is with great sadness that the Otter African Trail Run has to announce the passing of a participant in the Challenge event; on Thursday, 6 October 2022. The organisers, Faces, would like to extend their sincerest condolences to the friends and family members of the deceased. As the next of kin have yet to be informed, please respect their privacy and allow them the space to grieve.

The tragic incident is the first such occurrence in the event’s 14-year history. Participant safety is always the Otter African Trail Run’s primary concern and as such the heart-breaking news is felt acutely throughout the race village. No further details can be released until the relevant authorities have published their findings.
